    IL-7 and HIV Tat synergise to downregulate IL-7R{alpha}

IL-7 is crucial for many T cell responses, and downregulation of the IL-7R{alpha} chain (CD127) impairs these functions. Using CD8+ cells from healthy volunteers, MacPherson and colleagues (p. 203) show that physiological amounts of IL-7 and HIV Tat synergise to downregulate CD127; on the other hand, Tat opposes IL-7-induced cell proliferation. The authors discuss the possible molecular mechanisms . . . [Full Text of this Article]
